myOT! provides caring, client-led occupational therapy services for Canberra children and their families. Due to the continued growth in demand for our practice, myOT! is seeking dynamic and committed occupational therapists to join our team in working with children aged 0 -15 in a range of settings. We are currently filling positions for Occupational Therapists and Occupational Therapy Assistants for an immediate start.

We pride ourselves on being a highly skilled and flexible practice, offering a diverse range of clinical services in our Hawker office in northern Canberra, as well as in the home, childcare, preschool, and school environment.

myOT! is fortunate to have outstanding facilities and clinic resources in its Hawker office, which it shares with a leading paediatric physiotherapist practice. We have a large gross motor room, sensory rooms and a full-size classroom for group therapy programs.

In response to the COVID-19 crisis, myOT! also provides a suit of innovative online services and has operated in fully virtual mode through the period of restrictions in the ACT. This enables us to take on clients throughout Australia and in New Zealand.

About the Role

myOT! is seeking dynamic and committed occupational therapists & occupational therapist assistants to join our team in working with children aged 0-15 in a range of settings. We have full-time and part-time positions based for both experienced and emerging practitioners.

The role involves working with different age groups and in multiple areas of treatment, both in our Hawker office and during home, childcare, and school visits. This is focused on helping children and their families achieve goals and developmental milestones, and covers a range of gross motor, sensory, behavioural, social and feeding issues, everyday activities and developmental delays and disabilities.

About You

To be successful in these roles, you will need to be able to work cooperatively within our small team of clinical and administrative staff. We are looking for passionate and self-motivated practitioners who can build a real rapport with children and families. Effective communication and organisational skills are critical.

The essential requirements of the role are:

  • Occupational Therapist – Recognised degree in occupational therapy & professional registration with AHPRA
  • Occupational Therapist Assistant – working towards a degree in occupational therapy
  • Working With Vulnerable People (WWVP) registration
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills with children and adults
  • Current driver’s licence

Desirable skills and experience:

  • Minimum of 3-5 years of clinical experience in paediatrics
  • Experience working with children with ASD and other disabilities
  • Knowledge of disability, learning, sensory processing, motor skills, and child development
  • Proficiency in using assessment tools, report writing, creating programs and goal setting
  • Understanding of and commitment to family-centred care
  • Understanding of the National Disability Insurance Scheme (NDIS)
  • Ability to treat and assess children, babies – 15 years
