Music Therapy

What is Music Therapy?

Music therapy is an evidence-based allied health profession in which music is used to actively support people’s health, functioning, and wellbeing.

Who is it for?

Music therapy can support people of any age, ability or background who might be experiencing challenges in their daily life or wishing to improve their wellbeing. No musical experience is required to participate and benefit!

Who are Registered Music Therapists (RMT)?

RMTs are trained and accredited professionals who are registered with the Australian Music Therapy Association.

Jaimee is our resident Registered Music Therapist here at myOT! Therapy Services. Prior to joining myOT, Jaimee primarily worked within public health settings, supporting patients across the lifespan - from paediatrics through to geriatric care. Jaimee has a broad range of experience supporting people within mental health, rehabilitation, and community health settings, and is influenced by trauma-informed and person-centred approaches to care. Jaimee completed her Masters of Music Therapy at the University of Melbourne and is a certified Neurologic Music Therapist through the Academy of Neurologic Music Therapy. Jaimee is passionate about providing family-centred, goal-oriented care through meaningful and personalised musical experiences, and is an advocate for music therapy within the wider community. Outside of work, Jaimee enjoys gardening, crochet, nature walks, and playing music to support her wellbeing.
